Plain-language terms for using this site. Short, because the site does very little to you: it publishes articles, it links to a few products, and it stores nothing about you.
No warranty and no professional advice
Everything here is published for general information. It is written carefully and corrected when wrong, but it is offered without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Nothing on this site is professional advice - not legal, medical, mental-health, financial, or tax advice - and reading it creates no professional relationship. Admissions, aid, and the paperwork around a new adult are situational and vary by school and by state. Forms like FERPA waivers, HIPAA authorizations, and powers of attorney are legally operative documents; most families handle them without a lawyer, but some situations do call for one. Financial-aid, 529, scholarship, and tax questions turn on your own circumstances. Confirm anything you plan to rely on with the school, your state, or a licensed professional first.
Verify with the school
Deadlines, required forms, costs, and policies change, and every school does things a little differently. Where anything here conflicts with what your student's school, your state, or an official source says, the official source governs. Verify before you depend on it.
The College Finder reproduces public federal data - every source, and the year it covers, is named on Where our data comes from. Figures can be out of date or missing for a given school, distances are straight-line approximations, and net-price and earnings figures reflect only federally-aided students. Treat it as a starting point, not the final word - confirm details with each school.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, College Bound Life and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its contents, including indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Affiliate links
Some links are affiliate links, which pay this site a commission at no additional cost to you. They are labeled in the text, and the full arrangement is described on the affiliate disclosure page. Recommendations are not sold, and no manufacturer or retailer has editorial input.
Privacy
This site does not run analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting code, and it does not set tracking cookies.
- What the server records. Ordinary web server logs: the page requested, the time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. These are used to understand traffic volume and to see which links are followed. They are not sold or shared.
- The College Finder map. The map is drawn with tiles from OpenStreetMap. When it loads, your device requests those tiles directly from OpenStreetMap's servers, which - like any website you visit - receive your IP address to serve them. Your searches themselves are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.
- What happens when you follow an affiliate link. You leave this site for the retailer, who applies their own privacy policy and may set their own cookies. We receive no personal information about you, only aggregate commission reporting.
- Email. If you write to contact@collegeboundlife.com, that message is kept in order to reply. It is not added to any mailing list.
- Children. This site is written for parents and guardians. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
